Just sit right back…

Tuesdays at Biddy’s are getting crowded.
Rowdy.
Downright competitive.
And high stakes.
Weekly Pub Quiz regulars Clarification Please came away the big winners this week, drawing from a total pot of well over $100.  The evening was notable, though, in the amount of new teams  – and return teams.
The most crowded evening since QuizMaster Kevin began some weeks ago, [...]

And the Oscar goes to…

First and foremost, I’d like to the thank the Academy… and God.
(Everyone seems to thank God, no?)
Who else – Loved ones? Co-stars? Financiers?
Yeah, all of them too.
But who does Tuesday night’s Biddy’s Pub Quiz champions, Green and White Army, have to thank?
I’d maybe start with a few of the other teams that came up just [...]

It helps when you’re named “Sperling”

Schadenfreude had a slim lead heading into the Final Challenge Round, and they opted for the Category 1 – “I’m Not Only the President.”
In a “Hair” themed Pub Quiz night, well, it’s not hard to guess where that question is going…
And Schadenfreude was ready. And waiting. And excited.
To set the tone a bit, Schadenfreude wasn’t [...]

If I was President…

An old man told me, instead of spending billions on the war,
we can use some of that money, in the ghetto.
I know some so poor, when it rains that when they shower,
screaming “fight the power”.
- Wyclef Jean

Not that that quote has a whole lot to do to with this week’s Pub Quiz at Biddy’s, but it [...]

Brangelina’s Brood

Can you name them all?

I didn’t even know how many of them there actually were (6), just that there seems to be something particularly odd about a Hollywood power couple with nearly enough young kids to eventually field their own baseball team — and who look like they might have been plucked from the pages [...]

Seals Clubbing

1 – 0 – 0.
Just one point ended up the difference between first and third Tuesday night at Biddy’s. One point! One measly, little point. But oh, what a point it was.
That one point was, ironically enough, however, not held by The One. With a 35 point lead heading into the Challenge Round, The [...]

Lost @ Biddy’s: Pants (on the ground) and teams (not named The Squirrels)

January 28th, 2010 at 3:18 pm » Comments (2)

I can’t lie, the Pants on the Ground thing scared me.
I don’t watch “Lost” and have never seen more than a few minutes here and there, and even then that was only while I was stuck, looking for the remote to change the channel. Cheers reruns, Family Guy SIX! simultaneous Family Guy options, even [...]

To Clarify: “Triumph” is a puppet, with a comedian’s hand gingerly placed up its … backside

You see, it’s not that The Comedian wasn’t a good answer; It’s just that it was an answer that was wrong. (If it had been a photo of Conan, say, then by all means The Comedian gets the points; or if it had been a photo of Leno’s chin, well, I’d have to have gone [...]

If we had a crime scene here, we’d be set

January 13th, 2010 at 10:21 am » Comments (0)

One case of latex gloves. A magnifying glass and black light. A pocket-sized recorder.
The props of an ambitious film-goer taking in the latest Robert Downey Jr. flick? (Maybe trying to make a buck, Kramer style?)
No, just a few of the bonus-scoring gizmos brought in for the ‘Television Crime Series’ themed Pub Quiz Tuesday night at [...]

Pass the CHEESE, please! Biddy McGraws 1-5-10

January 6th, 2010 at 12:16 am » Comments (0)

It was great to get back to Biddys again after being away for a couple months. It was great to see the long-time Biddys teams like Borg 9, Schadenfreude, Moose en Sein; the theme team, Beer Cheese soup; and of course, the new(er) teams like Christian Side Hugs and Karl Weisenheimer’s Contagious Brain Aneurysm. A [...]
