What an awesome night!  I really do have this hankering to do an all-80′s movie marathon now.  Goonies, Raiders, Blade Runner, Empire, Full Metal Jacket, Terminator, Die Hard, Princess Bride, Fast Times, Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s, Big, ummmmm alright that’s all I can think of.

But back to the quiz!  Congratulations to team Vince Neil’s Windshield for their first place win!

It was a packed night at The Thirsty Lion yesterday, and stayed that way even after that huge dinner party cleared out!  Over fifty quizzers came, saw, but only three teams conquered and took home the money.  Congratulations to team Anagram This! for their first place win:

The quiz itself was nice and intimate – well, plus some loud non quizzers  It was a blast, and when offered a PBR at the end of the quiz by the team above, I accepted!  We were having tons of fun talking about all things interesting when I noticed the weather outside was going to hell.  I’m REALLY glad I took off right then for home – it turned into a full blown snow-storm for about an hour there.  At around the Zoo exit on highway 26 it got really scary.  I kept trying to stay in my lane, but when you can’t see the lines on the road, it’s a bit hard.  Everyone slowed way down, except for the occasional suicidal idoit blowing by at 50, not realizing he’s all over the road.

Hope everyone got home safe!  We were supposed to get more snow this week, but it looks like it might be warming up.  No snow is a bummer, but safe driving conditions is reward enough, I think.

In second place, team Bullet Ants, with Ped Heads in third.  Seal the Deal came in late, but did quite well for only having a couple people on their team!

About 50 quizzers showed last night at The Belmont Inn, and we had ourselves some fun.  Team Five Geeks of the Apocalypse took first in round one, scoring a pitcher o’ beer.  Fittingly named, team “Consistently Second to Last” was just that in round 2, netting the second pitcher of the house’s finest.  In the end, it took a on-theme team name to win first place: Baby, I’m gonna fraud you SO hard!

Nicely done!  I’ll be taking apart my poor camera this weekend to try to fix it (SD Card slot is jammed with something).  Thanks to Renee for snapping this pic.

Also thanks to Liz for making me mystery drinks that were actually very good, and Jason for the food to help get me back to sober.

In second place last night, team Wildcatters, with Pretty Good for a Mongoloid getting their commanding lead snatched away at the last minute in the final round.

Congrats to the above team – Anagram This! – for their first place win last night at The Thirsty Lion!  It was also Amanda’s birthday.  She’s the adorable one.  What’s that?  They are all adorable?  I KNOW RIGHT?  More specifically, she’s the adorable one in the scarf, green, and brown on the left.  They gave me a piece of their birthday cake, which was a cheesecake with a medium-thickness white chocolate shell coating the whole thing.  It looked amazing, tasted amazing, but when trying to cut it they found that hard shell + softer center means a squishy mess when you go to cut it into pieces.  It might have worked to crunch the top first, crème brûlée style, but I’m not sure.  It was definitely a structural conundrum.  A delicious one, though.

There were fifty quizzers there, so it was no small feat to take first place!  In second place, team Buzzkill took home a healthy stack o cash, as did third place team Not Real Doctors??

Congrats to team Cattle Prodigy for winning +15 bonus points next week from their wheel of prizes spin.  Also to the Evil League of Evil, who won two cover passes to a weekend show at The Thirsty Lion.

Special mention to team East Coast Travelers – they came all the way from New Hampshire just to get last place for the evening.  I think they had a good time though!

At the end of round one, The Ped Heads were in first place, just ahead of The Bullet Ants and Beardymen, who were tied for second.

After round two The Beardymen pulled into first place, with The Ped Heads and We Heard Brains tied for second.

After the bonus round handouts We Heart Brains moved up to tie with The Ped Heads for second, with the choice of categories going to The Bullet Ants.  They must have chosen wisely, because they took home the bacon.  And by bacon I mean first place cash prize:
