The great melting pot that is America has a fine slew of it’s own holidays, but has adapted many more. An optimist might say this is proof of how accepting we are of other cultures. A realist might say we’ll take every excuse and every day off we can to get drunk and loud for no reason. The answer lay somewhere in between. St. Patrick’s day is coming up, and we’ll have to wait for cinco de mayo for the next federally sanctioned national binge drinking day after that.
Hopefully it stops /snowing/ when cinco de mayo rolls around, we got hit by some wacky weather yesterday.
Four teams last night, makes for easy grading, but less overall excitement. We even needed music at points to cover up the lack of noise, which I typically relish. Not a big cash prize either, so thanks for the tips last night, I had to buy a burrito at taco bell on the way over and a whiskey and coke once I was there and the tips covered this contingency nicely. Speaking of contingencies, as soon as I ordered that whiskey and coke I immediately wanted a bloody mary instead. Fickle hankerings. But enough of my glib, let’s talk quiz night.
Besides my usual flub or two pronouncing things (look it’s not the word Gulliver’s that gives me trouble, it’s travels immediately after it.) the rounds went fast and smooth. In the final round I let all four teams compete thanks to a suggestion back from the ‘service’ quiz night and found everyone game for it. But then no one (except for pros not hos) wagered anything! Think you’ve got it figured out do you? The challenge questions are too hard to risk it? Well, we’ll see what happens next week.
My Precious took the win with 278 points, boosted by 38 bonus points thanks to taking the bingo bonus 20 and the 18 possible bonus from the night’s theme.
So congrats, My Precious for the win!
