As I arrived on Wednesday night at The Maiden, there was nary a seat to spare under the colored lights. We had two teams front and center, celebrating birthdays! This is a busy week for the Maternity ward I guess, since Tuesday night I encountered the same thing! Not to take away from Mary and ‘other birthday girl” at team Uncle Steve’s table. Everyone was in good spirits and seemed to be having a blast of a time during the quiz. At one point, one member of “The Lesser of two Weevils” (the “other” birthday team) came up to point out that not only did everyone on his team have capes (again with the black napkins *ahem*) but that EVERYONE on BOTH teams had capes (even the one that just popped in! amazing!) and therefore, that should be worth “something” to his team. Sadly, no, not worth anything. But I did get some great cake, Thank you very much Uncle Steve!
Uncle Steve and Darth Cheney and Beige Food made it into the final round. Beige Food was barely there, and just slid in front of the 4th place team by 3 points, but they arrived, nonetheless. Everyone’s wagers came in, and thanks to Beige Food being ultra conservative in their wager, they walked out with 1st place on Wednesday night. They bet only 5 points, after faltering so badly during the round, they were sure that they would not indeed know the final answer. They were right. Several teams were in the ball park for the year that Dracula the film was first released, starring Bella Lugosi as Count Orloc, but not one team correctly identified the year 1922 as it’s launch. Thus, Beige Food swept in for yet another win.
Love the Maiden, and fyi- in case you were wondering, I’m not starting to think maybe there is some magic to those green streets that I noticed last week, cause THIS week, lo and behold….BLAM still freakin green. And it’s been raining in these parts. I’m keeping my eye out for that creepy leprechaun from last week. I’m sure he’s got a black cape, and I’d HATE to see that combination.
