Those are my favorite team names of the night, ‘Don’t Steal My Cans Homeless Man!’ and ‘We Hate Oprah!!’. Sometimes when team signs up, the name just takes you by surprise and you’re like ‘I know there’s a story behind this.’ And when you ask you get typically one of two responses, which is funny because both of these teams gave me one.

First, when I asked ‘Don’t Steal My Cans..’ if there was a story behind it all I got was “O Yea…” and she laughed and went back to her table. And I’m just left wondering. I got the other response from ‘We Hate Oprah!!’ When they were asked, the response was: ‘O Yea… We Fuckin Hate Oprah!’. Gotta love it!

But we had a crazy night at the Old Thirsty Lion though as I had to turn teams away because we reached our 20 team max!! 90 people were in the house last night to celebrate Evil!! Muhahahah!!!

And it’s great when the bars gets behind the quiz like the Lion does because every week in the Thirsty Lion Trivia Challenge I get to give away some great beer glasses and then the guys at the Thirsty Lion buy the winners some beer to fill them!! Hell Yea!! We’re also in discussions to get the Quiz sponsered every week at the Lion by a brewing company for some great specials and prizes!! I’ll let you know as updates come in!!

But when it all came down to it we had $270 bucks on the line last night and the teams fought hard to get into the final round. So hard in fact that we had to let 6 teams into the final round becausethere was a tie for fifth! ‘Meatballs in a Cup’ and ‘Sacroteeth the Philsoraptor’ came in sixth and fifth respectively. ‘And the Wally’ (A subset of The Good the Bad and the Wally) Fought hard but just missed out on the cash in fourth. ‘Scooby’s Red Rocket’ ended up in a respectable third. ‘Hans Delbrooks Brain’ after running away with the rest of the quiz and coming into the final round more than 50 points in the lead slipped to second as they missed the final question.

But the big winners of the night, and I have to say a team that has played every week for months and has fought hard each and every Wednesday, finally gets to take home the Lion’s share of the Lion’s Pot…. ‘We Heart Brains’!!! Yea!!! Well Played Guys!!! Being old pros at the Quiz payed off as they also missed the final question but leapt from the 6th place tie into the lead with a cunning wagering strategy in the end!! Nice!
