You know what’s not funny? When not a lot of people turn out for a quiz. But such is the ebb and flow in the dangerous underbelly of the quizzing. Some weeks are packed at the Big Time Brewing Co. in Seattle, while others are on the slow side. This happened to be a slow week, which is too bad because it was a great quiz. A quiz that focused on comedy and funny people, like Woody Allen (did you know “Annie Hall” was nearly called “It Had to Be Jew?”), Steve Martin (he wrote “L.A. Story”) and Abbott and Costello (I don’t know is on third).
But for the small group that came out on Wednesday, it was serious business. Teams flexed their brain muscles on riddles and did a great job sleuthing round two’s secret message (all the teams correctly solved it). And with just a handful of teams playing, everyone got to participate in the final round question, which was fun. But unlike the secret message round, all the teams got the final question wrong. Which meant that Beer Roosters, who wagered a whopping zero points on their final question, left the pub with the night’s top prize — and some great goodies from the bar. Here they are, enjoying their spoils.
