While everyone else was sleeping off their holiday hangovers, some fine teams came out to The Portsmouth, Pizza and Pub in North Portland last night to battle it out for some cold hard cash. A new team to the venue “The Cunning Linguists” tested my linguistic cunningness every time I tried to pronounce their team name… and let me tell you they were on me when I screwed up… they were actually on me all night… but they were funny enough that I didn’t have to throw a ‘gogoplata’ on them…

Since we had only four teams, I made an executive decision to let all four into the final round. It was to the fourth place teams benefit as well, because the team that got the free pass: ‘Ben and the Wizards’ ended up winning it all with a balls to the wall wager of 0 on the final question… well the strategy paid off in cash as no one could remember the Benson Bubblers founder’s first name: Simon… yea even those who went to Benson high school got it wrong!!! The Nelson 5 finished 1 point above the new guys to take second. And perennial team ‘The Smoking Aces’ found themselves in the middle of a three game slide that they promised me will end next week. We’ll see….
