We had a great turnout this week, with 8 teams competing for the cash prize at the Big Time Brewing Co. Apparently breakfast brings out quizzers en masse. You think lunch would have such a good of a turnout? You can bet your turkey sandwich it wouldn’t.
The 5 for 5 round had some tough questions this week. Sorry gang, Mr. Bic was not the inventor of the ball point pen. That was Laszlo Biro. Also, there weren’t a lot of ’70s prog rock fans in the house, as nobody knew John Anderson was the singer of rock band Yes. Yes? Um, no.
The quiz links round was great fun this week, but only two teams successfully answered each question and linked their way to the correct response for the 20 bonus points.
As for the handouts, people were much better at their George Clooney movies than they were at their cereal mascots. Now if they ever adapt a box of Cookie Crisp for the big screen, I’m sure Mr. Clooney would be atop the list of ideal stars. Plus, he’d look great with that fake white beard and wand.
It was a close game going into the final question with only 2 points (yes, 2 points!) separating the first and second place teams — and only 15 points between first and third. In the end, it was the wagering that made the difference, with the six-person team of Pocket Bureaucracy taking home the cash prize, barely edging out Tyson Beerwag’s Dirty Expressions and the team called British Humour (spelled the British way of course). Here’s the winning team flaunting their winnings during their post-victory photo session.
It was a great turnout this week at the Big Time Brewing Company and we hope we’ll have just as many folks out next week!
