Dang, what a retro, throwback, 80′s theme Pub Quiz we had last night in the ‘Couve. When you lead off a quiz with a question about Orko, you know you’re in for a special night. And you learn some crazy things about ‘ol Orko when you google his floating, weightless ass. For example, despite not being in the Dolph Lundgren helmed “Masters of the Universe” movie, which despite being made in the late 80s was a nostalgia flick, Orko has his own Myspace page!

You know who else has their own Myspace page? Shanahan’s . So if you’re following the fuzzy math, that means if Orko is cool and has a myspace page, therefore Shanahan’s must ALSO be cool because they have a Myspace page. Damn! How does Quizmaster JPP get hooked up on that action? I must have at least DOZENS of people following me, looking for the straight dope, and I only know how to deliver it via my facebook page.

Ah, but you know the key difference between Shanahan’s and me? They won last night’s quiz! That’s right — Team Shanahan’s shook the old Pub Quiz monkey off their back and won for the first time in 4 months, fending off 9 other teams — five of which made it into the challenge round! And as a result of their mastery in all things 80s (which I might add, Shanahan’s owner Fred PREDICTED a victory last night), they are turning the pot over onto next week’s take, which means that before anyone walks in the door, the pot already got $102 richer.

Didn’t have a chance to snap a team photo, but I did take a shot of the impressive crowd during last night’s Name That Tune round.

As you can see, Shanahan’s is the place to play on Tuesday, people — especially next week with the huge pot we’re going to have! Come on up north of the border and try it out!
