Pub Quiz USA

Leaving America…

This won’t be the first 4th of July I’ve spent in Canada. Might not be the last.

After a week of America the Beautiful-themed Pub Quiz at Biddy McGraw’s on Tuesday, and 21st Ave Bar and Grill on Thursday, it’s time for a little vacation. That it happens to coincide with a national holiday, well, I’ll get by.

I know you all will miss ol’ QuizMaster Kevin next week, and rest assured I’ll miss you, but after two vacation-less years of school, the bar exam, and Pub Quiz, it’s time to relax a bit. And what better way to do it than a cruise?

Alaska, here I come!

I’ve never been on a cruise boat (and I’m slightly incredibly concerned that I’ll take a huge hit in the wallet during my week-long happy hour(s)) and I’ve never been to Alaska, but crossing off state #49 on my list seemed like as good an excuse as any.

(And no, #50 — Arizona — is not on my to-do list for any time in the near future.)

But I’ve leaving on the heels of two great quizzes this week.

Tuesday at Biddy’s was fantastic, with a whole bar full of teams fighting it out to some challenging questions, with capit(a/o)ls galore! Schadenfreude felt the pressure, but was able to hold on and take home the top prize cash.

And Thursday at 21st Ave had three teams competing, with Sirens of Titan barely holding onto their lead after the Final Challenge Round to take home the cash. The one-man Ray, Buy Me a Beer Please?! gave it a strong push at the end, but came up just a few points short. (One of those “addition by subtraction” scenarios, I’m sure).

Next week teams will get the opportunity to enjoy the QuizMaster stylings of QM Wendy at 21st Ave, and QM Carlson at Biddy’s, but I’ll be back soon, and looking forward to getting back on the mic!

Now, where’s that mai tai…?
