The night of the 90′s was kicked into high gear with the bonus points scrabbling at the beginning of the night. So many great things that people brought in to show the 90′s to now connection that was requested in the email. See the fine examples of geekery below:
First off, the photo of the computer pieces above are some sort of circuit boards. One is from 1994 and the other from 2007. No, really. He keeps them. In addition to the computer boards, there was a collection of Reptile magazine in his magic bag of the nineties. Also in the bag, a Star Trek series DVD with Wil Wheaton on the cover and a book by Wil Wheaton from the 00′s. Also in the bag: A big pile of NERD. Supplemented with a side of geek, and maybe a sprinkle of neurotic hoarder.
On the other side of things from the 90s, in an almost complete 180 degrees is the “Official guide to Slackers handbook” but, you know, whatever. Now, where did I put my combat boots and flannel shirt?
So many great things about 90′s (and beyond) week. Things like Beanie babies named Morrie the Eel, survivor the first season and worst of all, there was the music. The BAD terrible -no-good-should not be played-ever- again music. Example 1: Blue. Example 2: I wish. Example 3: The Macarena. At Sellwood Wednesday night in fact, we listened to all three of these fine pieces of auditory assault. And more. It just wouldn’t stop with the requests for bad 90′s music. Every last one of them. I will never do that again. I promise. But hey, I did just get Slackers AND the Macerena into the same blog. Pork Chop express won this week. Oh, and look at that, where have wee seen *this* outfit before? Whatever.
