Another exciting night at Horse and Hound,
We actually had a spelling bee champion in the audience. He was part of the team 1993 Wasco County Spelling Bee Champ and Friends (and the was the abbreviated title). Beef Stroganoff may be known as a Russian dish consisting of beef in a mushroom sauce, but if you thought it was a cow masturbating, I gave you points for that too. The majority of you all put “Bjork” as your answer to the name of the Icelandic Volcano that recently erupted. The correct answer was Eyjafjallajokull, but Bjork is a close second.
FUCHSIA really messed with people. That was a good one! Whoever answered FUCH YOU spoke for everyone in the room I think.
Funny tid bit… I’ve been a fan of Merriam Webster dictionary for a while now. I feel it speaks to me more than the others, American Heritage or those other ones. I also like that on Merriam Webster dot com, you can have the computer speak the word to you. It’s funny which words have a male voice and which ones have a female voice. For example, if you have it say “boner” it’s a female voice. But vaginae (a plural of vaginas) is a male voice. As a fail safe, I had the word “boner” on repeat, just incase a joke went bad. I’m going to incorporate the M-W speak function into my quizzes more often.
The HOPE paid off, as team Hopefully Frist came in First! Wonderful to see that happen, they’re good people who have a blast supporting Pub Quiz every week and they all had supporting Spelling Bee attire so they maxed on bonus points.
Here’s the happy group.
There’s Frank of Sandbar Developers write there in the middle, sneakily getting his mug into Frist’s Shot. guess he’s just gotta be seen in the winning photo… Sandbar comes in first from time to time, but tonight the settled for second. Not too shabby, that’s a handsome 35 clams which is a nice evening. Here’s Sandbar.
Frank opted out of that photo.
As always Hood River, it’s been real!
Can’t wait to see y’all next week, and I think weather.com is saying it’s going to be nice, so we may just have our first summer round outside! Hopefully that’ll happen.
