I remember one night as a child, lying awake in my bed when all of the sudden I came to a magical epiphany. Which was this: if things went right, I could live into the next century… how cool would it be, I thought, in the year 2000… or 2005… or 2008 even!!! WOW!!! My little child mind had visions of flying cars and meals in a pill… of teleportation and laser guns… I remember I fell asleep that night and dreamed of a wondrous futuristic world…

Fast foward several (more than I’m willing to admit) years and here I sit writing this blog in the actual ‘wonderful futuristic world of’ 2008…

OK… so I was an odd kid… hell I’m an odd adult. But there was no way I could ever have had dreamed of a world so insane. 2008 was one of the craziest year’s I can remember…

Here’s my partial 2008 flashback segment: (Not in chronological order)

I paid $4.63 for a gallon of gas.

I saw the first woman candidate for president who had a true shot at it get beat by the first black candidate who had a true shot at it.

After donating to Obama’s campaign, I think I received close to 10,000 e-mails from David Plouffe… so many I can even spell his name right without looking.

I was at a point in the summer where if I heard ‘Blah Blah Wall Street….Blah Blah Main Street’ once more I might have killed someone.

Watching a total solar eclipse online as it happened.

$700 Bilion Dollars!!! WTF???!!!????!!!???!!

Sarah Fuckin Palin. enough said.

I saw two feet of snow in my yard… I had to shovel two feet of snow out of my 100′ driveway…

I cried with several other people on election night…. and cheered with the world!

There are many more… but you know, you were there. I think I’ll go to bed early tonight and try and dream of a wondrous and futuristic world… 2009 has got to be it!!!
