That’s the slogan for Wednesday night’s game at the Sellwood Public House: “You stand a chance here” and it will be followed by “If you don’t get any money, at least you can go home with a squirrel” Tonight one of our new-to-Sellwood teams confessed that they have played all over town, and that they were tired of coming in mid-pack to last so they decided to try out the Sellwood. Guess what? They got second place! In fact-they led the night right up till the end of the game, a commanding lead at that. Sadly, they wagered all their points on a question they knew not enough about, thus, pushing our third place team up to the first place winnings! It was a good game, and the team that ended in first seemed a little peeved that they didn’t get to take our fresh off the plane from New Orleans Sellwood last place Squirrel home with them. They were confused, and a little sad to take home the $$$. Yep, that squirrel is popular. The Sellwood squirrel is really getting around town. He’s already traveled to the aforementioned N.O (and I might add did NOT come home covered in oil) and now he’s off to a new adventure. Somewhere in Portland. I hear they have a squirrel chasing dog…*gulp* so, remember, he’s got to come back IN TACT. Decorated however you please, but IN TACT and ready for action the following week. Not to worry, I’ll document the action as it’s presented to me. I promised and I’ll make it happen for you. Make sure you’re taking those pictures of him in all his glamourous outings. Unless he’s doing that “tuck” thing from Silence of the Lambs. I don’t want to see that. Really. Send me pictures of the squirrel for further fame mongering on my personal FACEBOOK PAGE! , or link them to me on the Twitter: QMPolly: or bring them into Sellwood when you bring back the squirrel.
Our winning team tonight, disappointed about losing out on the squirrel adventures was “Buck N Ear” thusly named due to the Mickey Mouse hats they wore: One with buck horns, one with simple ears. Perfect. My favorite team name of the night however goes to “Keys in the fishbowl” (everyones getting laid tonight). And, yes, I did have to put that in parentheses for them, as you can actually hear parentheses when I read it out loud. And lastly tonight our faithful team The Porkchop express were doing some pracitcing for their bout with the squirrel (you know it’s coming eventually) by wrangling some REAL party animals at home. Check it out: And click THIS link to see the rest of the party animals at home. OR visit my FB page for the rest of the pictures. Everything from wasted kitties to party snakes. Real live slithery ones. That eat things. Live things. RUN! And don’t forget to grab your keys out of the fishbowl on the way home.
