If there’s one thing that you take away from last night’s quiz, people, it’s that Rocky III is the greatest of all Rocky movies. Exhibit A: Mr. T as Clubber Lang. Exhibit B: Hulk Hogan as Thunderlips. In summation, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, Rocky III is the greatest of all the Rocky movies. The state rests.
But if there’s one other thing to take away, it’s don’t mess with Laird Cregar — for one, their name is harder to spell than it seems, and when they registered last night, I said, while putting their team into my tally, “I’ll spell it however I want, and then I’ll correct that spelling when you win and I put it in my blog.” Well, lo and behold, look where I am today, blogging about the Laird and the whooping they threw down onto the the quizzy masses huddled into the Space Room.
We had a great night of hot lip-smacking action, too. Traffic was a bear for everyone, myself included, and the bar was filled when I arrived. We had five teams in the Challenge Round, but that brainy Cregar bunch fought off the rest of the pack all night long and took home the night’s top prize. Second place was also a pleasant surprise, with Hell’s Satans scoring their first cash wad in a while, and third place saw an old favorite, Clarification, Please? make a nice little bundle for themselves.
And now, we’re almost over the halfway hump for this season’s SPACE ROOM SAUCER STANDINGS. That means we just put the wraps on WEEK SIX OF THIRTEEN, and teams are jockeying for position. Beware the Laird — they got a taste for winning and may come back to make their bid for the trophy! But here is where things stand for now:
