I said at the top of last night’s Thursday Throwdown that none of the questions would be about my dog, Indy (above)… but that didn’t mean I couldn’t blog about her! And if you had a dog this cute, you’d throw a photo of her up there too, wouldn’t you?

But forget my lovable scamp — the Belmont was packed with bloodthirsty Quiz Freaks last night! Competition is definitely heating up over at Belmont — we had SIXTEEN TEAMS last night, fighting for an ENORMOUS pot. I also bought the best performing Bingo Round team a pitcher of the finest domestic brew the bar has to offer (and I sprung for a sympathy pitcher for the team that did the worst in the second round). These are just a few of the giveaways we’re planning for the summer months, so keep on coming down to the Belmont where the playas play — TO WIN!

There were five teams in the Challenge Round last night and not surprisingly, three of those teams are sitting atop the Belmont Steak Standings! “Guided by Beige Food,” “Modest Monkey” and “They Might Be Tom Peterson and Gloria’s Too” are slugging it out on that front as well as week-to-week at each quiz, and this week they also had to beat “Peaches Family Restaurant” (the new name of the Wildcatters) and “Their First Album Was Better,” a mercenary crew who came in, sat down, and kicked some ass last night.

But as it always does, it came down to the Challenge Round, and since only one team — “No Mouth/Modest Monkeys” — had the answer, they took home the top prize. Here they are with their winnings (like 4 months ago… I gotta snap some new photos!):

“Tom Peterson” claimed second place, and “Beige Food” landed third on the night, with the Peaches crew — who were winning after four rounds — landing just one point shy of being in the money!

As a result of those results, WE HAVE A THREE WAY TIE FOR FIRST PLACE IN THE BELMONT STEAK STANDINGS! Don’t panic, there’s plenty of time too get into the fray — we’re only 1/3 of the way through the season, but if this is any sign of what’s to come, we’re going to have one exciting season, my fellow Belmontians!
