You know, after being busted in on two weeks straight, I think it’s officially time to ban the practice of ‘pulling a Kanye.’ For those of you in the know, you know what I’m talking about. And for those of you who couldn’t make it to the Battle at the Belmont last night, well, you missed out on some fireworks, my friends. To paraphrase Forrest Gump: And that’s all I’m going to say about THAT.

Instead, I’ll tell you about the all-out SLUGFEST we had at the Belmont last night. It was a cozy night of fierce competition, with only five teams ponying up to play for the pot, which I converted into a winner-takes-all affair. “TPS Monkeys” were winning after four rounds, ahead of second-place “Can you smell the stank on that’s what she said?”, tied third place squads “Last Minute Douchebag Convention”, and fourth place (but missing third by JUST ONE POINT) “TPS Reports and Gloria Too.” Since it was a winner-take-all pot, all the teams got into the Challenge Round, but only one walked out with the prize.

And before I give you the big reveal, let me remind you of some of the awesome things we do at The Belmont each week. Firstly, there’s the Winner’s Pitcher — which we buy for to the team that does the BEST in round one (before bingo bonus points are applied). Then there’s the Loser’s Pitcher — which goes to the team that does piss-poorest in the second round. Of course we also have iPhone/iPod Touch DJ capability, where quizzers can vote on the soundtrack before they sign in (or after they hand in all their papers). And finally — and this is a new one — rumor has it we’ve got some GREAT bar mirrors coming available for giveaway. More on that in the coming weeks, but still, that’s a lot of excitement packed into a Thursday night.

And now for the victors: Fending off a crowd of some of the city’s top Pub Quiz squads last night to take home the cold, hard, cash was none other than the No Mouth Monkeys! Look at ‘em celebrate:

Oh, of course there’s one other thing we rock at the Belmont, and that’s the BELMONT STEAK STANDINGS. SPECIAL NOTE: Guys, I know I said last night that I was giving 4 points to the winner, and only 1 to the other teams. But in reviewing the rules, as stated in the bylines and guidelines of the Belmont Steak, I’m obligated to give the losing teams 2 points for the Challenge Round. And Monkeys, I feel ya on this, but fair is fair, and fair is playing by the established rules — not making them up as I go along. So here’s the current standings:
