Sharky oh Sharky. Last week we wondered where you’d gone off to, as Pork Chop Express took the title and the night’s big cash pot. Tonight, upon your return and your incredible up close and personal placement to me, the Quizmaster, you ended up in last place! That is not the triumphant return we had planned, now is it? And Sharky, just who ran out with the money AGAIN tonight? Two weeks in a row? WITH new team t-shirts? That’s right it was these smug mugs, our two week in a row winners: The Pork Chop Express next to their team shot, check out the close-up of the team finery they are sporting each and every week.
That is some sort of light spewing forth from that “mans” mouth. Not sure of the exact explanation of this fine shirt, perhaps a comment here in the blog from Pork Chop Express is in order explaining all that awesomeness? Each week now we have two teams sporting their “team colors” as it were, at Sellwood Public House. It’s a fight for the win between these two teams, to see who gets their shirts featured each week. First it was Sharky, now PCE…Let’s see who can get the spot next week, or what other teams might show up with t-shirts? Once upon a time Cattle Prodigy had a cursed cowbell they brought to quiz…but that’s another story.
Now, about that rod waxing post. Tonight I had a question about Vaseline, and the inventor whose last name was “Cheesebrough” well, when Sharky heard THAT they thought I said “Cheese sauce” even though I gave everyone a nice visual of what rod waxing might look like. You know, if you were waxing your fishing rod, say. That was my example. Still, Sharky confused fish and cheese, and came to the conclusion that Velveeta was the right answer. To be fair it was A to Z and the clue was V. So, there’s that, Sharky.
In case you haven’t been out to the Sellwood Public House, here are some shots of the finery, and the fine wait staff that graces us on Pub Quiz night. Lacey and Racheal. Top Notch staff, who make sure everyone is filled to the brim with Nosh and Nom all throough the quiz. Thanks again Lacey and Rachel for making Wednesday night’s a fun time for all. Lacey gets a little excited from time to time when I’m asking questions and she will spout off quips from all over the bar- we can even here her from waaay back in the kitchen. Again, hats off to the great ladies of Sellwood Public House. Here they are in all their glory. And a shot of The Pork Chop expresses classy and elusive red swing line stapler. Nicely done.
Finally, a quick shot of the menu, as presented by Rachel. Thanks! Those drinks look GREAT! And Happy Hour? oooh…
Until next week at Sellwood, remember take it easy on the Velveeta Sharky. And remember while you’re out this week: Tell everyone you know: Polly for Best Trivia Jock in Portland at the Barfly awards! Get the word out, and if I win, I’ll bring that trophy next week for all of you to gaze upon all it’s glory. *ahem*…THREE weeks in a row.
but who’s counting?
The Pork Chop Express is the name of Jack Burton’s (played by the truly incomparable and be-mulleted Kurt Russell) truck in Big Trouble In Little China! Scary Old Magic Chinese Dude is Lo Pan, the villain.
