Well, there that goes.
I hate to be the one to break the bad news… Our dear, beloved friend The Gypsy is no longer with us.
It’s Unfortunate, but after this week there will not be a Pub Quiz at the Gypsy.
Tuesday we had a pretty epic battle to the death, with Michelle Obama’s Arms sticking it out for a gritty gutty victory to win the final quiz.
For those out there who are sobbing uncontrollably about the end of the Gypsy, NEVER FEAR! I will be back soon with an even better quiz in the Northwest, stay tuned for details.
I am so happy to have been able to work at the Gypsy, with some of the best Quizzers on the planet. Have a great time finding other venues and I promise we will be seeing each other soon.
I’m not sorry. You are a great Quizmaster Pat. You deserve a venue where the food is good and prices are reasonable, so they draw a crowd. I think Old Chicago will fold soon too. Plus the Gypsy just had a creepy vibe. It was like a dungeon or something. It’s the “neighborhood” old faithful places that have been around a long time that flourish with Pub Quiz. Belmont, Space Room, Hals…those places are always full up. The staff makes a difference too. I go back to the ones where I actually know the servers by name. That’s because they are friendly and welcoming and introduce themselves.
Sorry to see you lose a venue Pat. I’m sure you’ll be swinging from another Quizzy branch soon enough. Now, the real question is, how are you going to amend that championship belt?
Thanks for the good wishes! Sorry I’m slow to respond, but yes, Polly, the championship belt is now going to EXTREME (full capitals) mode for the new quiz at Hal’s…but it will still maintain it’s highish quality paper form! Yay for Open Office Draw!
