An old man told me, instead of spending billions on the war,
we can use some of that money, in the ghetto.
I know some so poor, when it rains that when they shower,
screaming “fight the power”.
- Wyclef Jean
Not that that quote has a whole lot to do to with this week’s Pub Quiz at Biddy’s, but it does tie in well with “Fight the Power”, that glorious street anthem from Public Enemy. Everyone heard Chuck D start spitting fire in the final question of Round 2′s Name that Tune and knew the artist instantly (not unlike that special Randy Neuman bonus question). The song title, though, proved somewhat more elusive.
Not to Dead Prez, though – the team previously known as the Seals Clubbers. They were all over it. That song, and every other song. And state nickname. And Presidential actors. And most of the other Presidential-themed head scratchers. Dead Prez and the weekly incarnation of Howard’s Beige Food team (Martin Van Beige Food this week) were out ahead early and never let up, just pouring on the points through the Handouts.
Well, neither let up until the end.
‘Presidential Math’ turned out to be just a bit harder than your average attempt at combining your high school civics classes with grade school mathematics. Martin Van Beige Foods came real close. Really close – off by just one digit. But that one digit was enough to turn the tables.
After the smoke had cleared, with the smallest final round bet, Clarification Please came out alive and ended up Tuesday’s winners.
