Barry, Pub Quiz “constant” (oh wait, Lost was last week)..

You know, sometimes you have a theme in which, you the almighty Quizmaster know next to NOTHING about the theme. Except that you know enough to stand your ground and back up the professional fact-checkers and writers that provide this glorious quizzing experience for all of you (Don’t tell me about all the times they’ve been wrong, overall, we’ve got a good track record). And you know enough to sometimes, call on the friendly help of some of your know-it- alls in the audience. Those teams that play, and win, consistently, whom only argue when it’s called for, and who, above all else, weather they like the bonus ops or not, try to play fair. These teams are filled with men and women that you can call on in times like terrible fucking exciting SUPERBOWL week to help you out when people shout alternate answers from the crowd. You can call them by name from the crowd for a ya/ nay in regards to their thoughts on the matter. It’s a badge of honor really, to realize that your QM will indeed yell out to you for an opinion. Wear that badge proudly. Like a helmet? I got nothing good for Football week.

Last night’s game brought out the die hard sportier than thou jock loving short wearing crowd to the Bridgeport. And then there were the Wombats, Quizmont CC, and others at the bottom of the pack with me, your lonely nerdy smoking hot Quizmaster. I’ve never been big into team sports, blame it on my coordination, or lack of social skills, but sports just, I dunno, *meh* Never liked playing, never liked watching. So, there you go, I missed ALL THE FOOTBALL references last night. I don’t even know who Steve Young is. OR Brett Favre. Nor do I care.

The big winning team last night was Peyton’s Red Rocket! That would be Scooby’s Red Rocket in disguise, for those that don’t know. They took a commanding lead after the hand out rounds were in, and stayed at the top. There were NO BONUS points at all last night, sans the one bingo that went out to a mid-pack team, so it was close going all the way up to the Handout round. I was, I’ll admit, sweating a bit about that 8 way tie for 3rd place we had going on after round two, but luckily, the handouts did their thing and shuffled the teams around to make out a clear first, second and third place. My camera phone is decidedly uncooperative the last few days, so, alas I was only able to snap this quick shot of Peyton’s Red Rocket ’s team jersey as they made their getaway. In a big black smoke monster/ no spoiler but if you saw it you know who moment of glory.

Till Tuesday! When you’re downtown, remember, voices carry.
