Nice Halloween evening at the Bridgeport, we had some spooky music, a nice little parade of costumes and some great BEER for prizes! Spiderman took best overall, while the Ghost (Charlie Brown style in a sheet) and a guru from (some tribe) took the other categories. Yours truly, Velma forgot her glasses and thus didn’t get a good picture of any of the great costumes! ZOINKS! Actually my batteries died before I got a shot and alas my phone was not cooperative…sans pictures we did have a great time.
The crowd was pretty pumped up and those creepy ass animal masks over in the corner kept me glancing around the room in fear. I’m really freaked out not by the usual bloody bodies, ghosts or even the weird sores or wounds. For me it’s the nice little kid’s animal masks. Like the ones you’d find at Finnegan’s downtown. Simplistic in sytle, nothing “scary” about them. Simple child’s mask yet something about grown men and women wearing those masks just makes all my hair stand up and causes me to clench up a bit. creepy.
Donde Estes Los Unicorns won the game last night as they correctly identified the 4 classic monsters that Lon Chaney Jr. was popular for portraying. Good question that had folks scratching their heads and caused the upset of the third place team taking home the big $92, while second place One week till Socailism held on the their spot and went home with $40. The team that was first going into the final ended in third, The Fighting Mennonites. Good Beer, prizes, cash money and creepy animal weirdos. The Pearl is a good place to be on Tuesday nights for a pubquiz. Los Unicorns did well, we hope you’ll come back and kick some more butt with us on Tuesday nights.
Next week is ELECTION night, and the big screens that were up for peeping the BB game tonight will be going again, we have promises of coverage during the quiz, with some captioning to help us keep up with the game….err…election during our rounds. Come and join us, it’s sure to be fun, and we’ll have lots of good beer to celebrate or (drown our sorrows in) for the outcome.
