I can’t lie, the Pants on the Ground thing scared me.
I don’t watch “Lost” and have never seen more than a few minutes here and there, and even then that was only while I was stuck, looking for the remote to change the channel. Cheers reruns, Family Guy SIX! simultaneous Family Guy options, even HSN in SAP seems to me like a better way to waste time in front of the tube (and I don’t speak Spanish).
Needless to say, I didn’t know the answer to a single “Lost” question when I was preparing for Tuesday’s Pub Quiz. And some questions (see: Pants on the Ground) I didn’t even know weren’t Lost related.
But then, the imitations started. And the monologue. Oh, the monologue.
I don’t know if many Pub Quiz nights at other bars are frequented by top tier dramatic talent, but here at Biddy’s, well, let’s just say that perennial contenders Rake of Blood could have walked away with an Oscar. Or an Emmy, I guess. Or, really, whatever would be the correct award for such a dynamite performance – Leading Dramatic Actress in a ‘Trivial’ Role?
While Rake of Blood took home the bonus points, The Squirrels jumped out to an early lead and hung on all the way through to the end, taking home the first place prize.

Yes, that is an unfortunately dark picture, and I apologize to the truly bright and smiling members of The Squirrels. Those damn camera phones just don’t have the flash needed for those all important indoor bar snapshots. I know I’ve definitely missed some really good ones, more than a few times. And on Tuesday I actually did bring the real camera, but the batteries were dead. And I even thought I had brought some new ones just for that possible scenario…
But I couldn’t find them.
They were… well, LOST.
[Author's update: Batteries found; were in bottom of backpack the whole time. Figures. Just another trite, pseudo-ironic plot twist.]
Time spent watching Cheers reruns is time well spent, Kev. Disparage Cheers one more time, and I’ll … I’ll … well you don’t want to know what I’ll do.
Oh no, don’t get me wrong, I would NEVER disparage Cheers. I love Cheers. Love it! It may be my favorite TV show of all time. And I’ll watch the same reruns over and over. I prefer it immensely compared to Family Guy (old or new), which I then prefer to HSN (english or spanish). All of these, of course, I prefer to Lost.
