Before we get to the punch line/ blog title, let me just say, there’s always one asshole once a week or so, in some random bar around town, walking through, sitting at the bar, doing something “else” or other than trivia with us, who has to walk into the room, and yell out some answer. Tonight, it was a poker player from the back room. He came in all cocky (or is that just what poker players walk like?), while I was asking an A to Z question for the letter “D” Of course, he didn’t know the game, so when I asked the question, he yells out an answer that DOESN’T EVEN START WITH D. HA The joke is on you, asshat poker player, for that poke at us. Sadly, he was not in the room when I announced the correct answer. So really, it was a quiet private moment of triumph for me, the Quizmaster. Ahem.
Moving on here, I got your number players tonight. I figured you out! It appears that it wasn’t that all of you had memorized the name of the Sherpa that helped that fella up Mt. Everest the first time, nope it was a George Clooney talking shit about Tenzing Norgay that made you remember him! Ha! I got ya! History begs it’s way in via the ol’ pop culture reference after all. Damn. I love when that happens. That’s what makes trivia great. It doesn’t matter where you gather the useless knowledge, it’s all in how you put it to good use.
Take *SHARKYS* (corrected from previous post noting wrong team name) tonight. They really worked hard and managed to climb up to the tippy top of Mt Pub Quiz with just a little help from their own Sherpa, Bonus Points.

I missed out on my chance to get a picture of the returning champions from last week, “Bingo was there Name-O” who had drawn a chart of their pub quiz standings on the table at the bar. It was very spiky. They won last week, finished in last this week. What does that leave for next week? I guess we’ll have to show up on Wednesday night to see. Sellwood is a great new venue, we’ve got new/ different teams winning each week, not always the same ol’ winners, and tonight the winning team took home $63. Not a bad haul for a night of quizzing! ALSO And this is IMPORTANT!
At the Sellwood Public House, they run Happy Hour till 7 pm, so if you show up BEFORE 7, which means even by say 6:40, you can still get happy hour prices. Awesome! Also at Sellwood, you can now download the free Ap “Remote” for your iphone and have access to choosing the playlist from my computer. How’s that for fancy?
To put in requests for songs to be added to the playlist, follow me Polly FB, and leave a comment on my FB wall, or tweet me directly with your request @QMPOLLY on twitter. If I get it, and add the song, I’ll give you an extra point for it next week!
Quick correction – the winning team was named “Sharky”, not “Pork Chop Express”, thanks!
