The first ever Pizza Schmizza Pub and Grub Quiz is completed!! We had quite a crowd for a first time with several new players and teams, but it was the veterans that ruled the night.

New teams ‘Lucky SOBs’ and ‘We Do What We Want’ had a slow start, but made up for it with high scores on both handouts. I still can’t believe that someone got the “Last of the Mohicans” clue right. ‘We Do What We Want’ made it to the final round, but ‘Lucky SOBs’ weren’t so lucky and barely missed making the cut.

Now at the start of the game, leading team ‘Thirteenth Floor’ promised victory. Like Babe Ruth they pointed to the outfield and stood their ground. In the end, they emerged victorious. Using some careful planning on point wagering, ‘Thirteenth Floor’ was able to surpass their rivals the ‘Aaardvarks’. After the contest I went to the ‘Aaardvarks’ for a statement. Here is what they had to say,

“They played a great game and I can only say that next time around our team will be smarter, faster, and ready to win. Next time the ‘Thirteenth Floor’ will be like it is in most buildings, non-existent.”

Bold words from a team who believes in a superstition that still doesn’t make sense to me. There will always be a thirteenth floor on a building that’s over thirteen floors. People can fool themselves all they want, but fourteenth floor, you really know what floor you are don’t you?

(BTW, I was paraphrasing. They may or may not have said something like that.)
