The Saucer Has Landed! (Space Room)

BEHOLD! The Space Room Saucer!

On Wednesday, the inaugural Space Room Saucer Standings came to an action-packed conclusion, with FOUR teams in the hunt for the season’s top honors. The team who won the 13-week competition earned themselves some pretty out-of-this-world perks:

• First, and most important, the top team will have its name inscribed on the trophy above.
• The trophy will be used to reserve the table of their choosing every week over the next season.
• The winning team gets to select a tribute song, which we will play to honor their overall awesomeness as time allows over the next season of the Space Room Saucer.
• And they walked off with a bunch of great Space Room t-shirts and gift certificates.

“More Cowbell” had held a demanding lead over the course of the season, but they watched as it dwindled, slipped away, and then ultimately escaped them on Wednesday. “No Future” was in the running from day one, but as the last day approached, they were only mathematically eligible to win, though the outlook didn’t look good. That left “Spoonful of…” and “Clarification Please” in a dead heat at the start of Wednesday’s quiz to duke it out for the Saucer. What happened next kept the crown on pins-and-needles all night.

“Clarification” bounded out of the gate with a HUGE lead in the Bingo Round. “Spoonful” tried to chip away at that lead in Round Two, but the ever dangerous “No Future” was determined to play the role of spoiler. “No Future” made up some ground on the handouts, and moving into the Challenge Round, the three were locked in on the night’s top cash prize, nevermind the whole season’s stakes. And then, with a wink and a nod to their opponents, “No Future” outsmarted the rest of the pack, NAILED the Challenge Round question and came out on top for the night’s quiz.

So then it all came down to which team wagered wisest as to whom would be the winner of the Space Room Saucer. “Spoonful,” however, went full-Clavin, which means their night’s score of ZERO was about 99 points shy of beating “Clarification Please,” who emerged as the inaugural Space Room Saucer!

CONGRATULATIONS TO CLARIFICATION PLEASE! Great work all season long, guys! And here they are, posing with the Saucer itself:
