He road into town on his horse — okay, so maybe it was a bike — and strolled into the saloon — okay, so maybe it was the Space Room. He was looking for some action, a card game — or perhaps a Pub Quiz — and he’d come a long way for it. He was the man from Anacortes, and he came to Portland to play.
You’ve got to take your hat off to a man who travels from damn near the Canadian border to get his Pub Quiz fix. And so it’s fitting that he, and his band of Quizzers known as The Sundance Kids, ended up taking home all the bacon in a winner-take-all throw-down on Monday night. And to get the big prize, they had to beat some of the best — a one-man well of Western knowledge who went by the team name of Lee Harvey Oswald, and T/X, probably one of the most dangerous gangs of Pub Quizzers this side of the Hole in the Wall Gang.
When will the mysterious Man from Anacortes return? Who knows. All I know is, the man knows his random facts and useless knowledge, and he rode off into the sunset with everyone else’s money.
