First off, let me say that Beige Food are good people. I like all my little quizzees equally, so when I pick on the Beige, know that I could just as easily be picking on you, too. But man, did they ever paint a bulls-eye on their back this week. First, they won the damn Tournament of Conceit! Props to them because it’s no small feat. But second, they questioned my math skills. Twice. (Well, three times actually.) And well they should have, because they were actually right. But third, they walked away with the top prize last night at the Belmont, jumping ahead to an early lead in the Belmont Steak Standings.
But ontop of that, when I asked Beige Food’s Kurt what the Tournament of Conceit was like, he said, “You know, when you win something like that, the answers just flow to you…” (Not an exact quote. I’ll fire up my recorder next time I do interviews). But then, the third time they questioned my math (again, with good reason), Beige Food’s Howard eventually said, “You know, at this point, it doesn’t really matter.” At that point we had yet to play the Challenge Round! I told him, “Those might be famous last words.” Turns out, he was right though, as no one caught them in the end.
“There was some mighty strong teams there last night,” said No Mouth Monkey’s Brad on a Facebook thread earlier today. His team had won two of the last three top prizes. “Still, it was hard to scrub the humility from my skin this morning.”
I know the feeling, Brad. I was the guy doing, or rather mucking up, the math.
