By the way, thanks to That Not So Fresh Feeling for bringing in some great vintage ads, including the great cure for that not so fresh feeling – Lysol. Yes, that Lysol. Applied there. Really. Wow. Team Big Time was back, minus Rick who was behind the bar tonight keeping everyone happy and un-thirsty. They got off to a slow start, 4th place after the Bingo round. But they were one of the 3 teams to participate in the very rare 3-way Bingo tie along with The Muffcakes and The Sauce Is The Boss. It was close after the Bingo Round, but creative names and creative vintage ads helped boost some teams despite lower scores. Round 2 found Team Big Time in a class of their own, pulling away easily from the pack with some great answers. Somebody watched too much TV as a kid on that team for sure. Seriously, with Tivo now, will kids even have any jingles memorized? What will they be quizzed on in 2030? Ah, who cares, they will have to work 23 hours a day to pay for our Social Security anyways so they won’t have time for quizzes. That is sad. OK, new campaign, write your local congressperson and tell them to reduce the national debt in order to save Pub Quiz. Can we challenge ourselves in recall of random facts? Can we have an excuse to go out and drink beer with our friends at least one night a week? Yes We Can! Come on, America! Do it for the kids! Do it for the quiz! OK, where was I? Oh yeah, the tight race to keep Team Big Time at least in their sights between The Sauce Is The Boss and the team that hates me and decided to name themselves “The Wacky, Waving, Inflatable Arm-Flailing Tube Men”. That is the only mention they shall receive because that is a lot of typing. But hilarious. Seriously, how many times have you just stopped and bought a car, TV, or donut on the spot just because of the power of the Tube Man? 3 story inflatable gorillas do nothing for me anymore, they are impotent compared to the hypnotic spell of our flailing friends. Those Tube guys ended up in 3rd, The Sauce Is The Boss finished a valiant second despite being a man down, and Team Big Time won convincingly.
