THe subject line is the punch line to my favorite pirate joke. For some reason it didn’t go over so well tonight even though it is indisputably the BEST JOKE EVER. Really, it’s quite good, I promise. We had a pirate-themed Pub Quiz tonight, of course. Yeah for pirates! Plenty of talk of plundering and pillaging and booty and whatnot, so that makes for good times. Again, the Big Time quizzers are right on top of current events and are not afraid to challenge whether or not it is “too soon” to “go there” when they pick team names. Case in point “Arrr…Nobody puts baby in the corner”, and oh yeah, the other team that wanted the exact same name, so instead went with “Some Pirate Wenches Stole Our Team Name”. Of course I can’t forget to mention “Kanye West Charm School”, whose enrollment must have increased substantially this week. Seriously, though, “All The Single Ladies” is iconic and awesome and why not add a comment.
Anyway, on to the quiz. Team Judgment Day was back this week and did much better than last week, I am hoping for a breakout week for them next week. Team Unemployed performed solidly as well, but just like Judgment Day, was burned by the Quizlink bonuses, only solving one link and falling behind. Werewolf Bar Mitzvah was back and so close, that Bingo bonus almost got them up to tonight’s top three. Big props go out to I Want To Plunder Your Booty for correctly solving every link in tonight’s Quizlinks, rocketing them to first place going into the final challenge round. Arrr…Nobody Puts Baby In The Corner benefited greatly from their bonus points thanks to bringing in some great treasure boxes and their festive pirate hats. What also paid off for them was their pirate studying. Yes, studying! For pub quiz! They admitted to it, and apparently a History Channel special on pirates helped them solve the final challenge question and combined with their big wager, resulted in them winning tonight’s pub quiz. Great job, Team Highspeed by any other name still rocks apparently. Some Pirate Wenches Stole Our Team Name pulled out second place, and I Want To Plunder Your Booty made the unfortunate fall out of the money from 1st to 3rd. Avast ye mateys, another Pub Quiz is on the horizon next Wednesday! And good luck to any teams who be sailin’ to Portland this weekend for the Tournament, go Seattle. And oh yeah, SCURVY!!!! ARRR!!!!
