What a night at the Space Room last Wednesday — so jam-packed with adventure and Pub Quizzery that I’m just now getting to write about it. The ‘Fairy Tale’ theme brought out teams of all stripes and colors, all competing for the Space Room’s biggest pot ever — which means it also had the largest crowd. Sixty Pub Quizzers (plus one Quizmaster) jammed the Space Room’s antechamber for a rollicking night of all things fantastic and amazing.

First-time Space Room players ‘Clarification Please’ owned the room and the night, taking the quiz wire-to-wire and dominating every round. They walked out with the first-place prize, besting and outwagering ‘The Lorax,’ who came in second place, in the Challenge Round, and ‘Jack’s Beanstalk,’ the other Challenge Round contender.

Highlights of the night included one Quizmaster admitting he has a woman in his, uh, colon. A regrettable and unfortunate mashup of two questions. And then, of course, there was the usual victory parade of the Cupcakes, who, again, did not come in last. In fact, they beat out a friendly bunch of newbies who went by the name of everyone’s favorite fictional pornographer, ‘Jackie Treehorn.’ Great folks, and smarter than they scored, I’m sure. Come on back, y’all!
