What a great Pub Quiz with a fun and boisterous crowd at Big Time Brewing Company tonight. 33 people in 9 teams battled for tonight’s title. Props to The Brothers Grim (1 “m” on purpose, not a typo) and Bob Dole: The Ugly Duckling for bringing in fairy tale books and getting valuable bonus points. Newcomers Team Low Key and D&K gave great efforts, along with contenders The Brady Bunch and Wylie Van Winkle. A tight race developed between Team Big Time, The Brothers Grim, Bob Dole: The Ugly Duckling and our two most controversially named teams of the night – Dead Kennedy’s and Chappaquiddick Diving Team. Too soon? They were ripped from the headlines better than an episode of “Law & Order”, but did have to deal with some jeers throughout the night. I guess it didn’t hurt them, as Dead Kennedy’s and Chappaquiddick Diving Team were tied for first place after Round 2. The handouts made a big difference tonight, focusing more on pop-culture knowledge and causing a swing at the top. Our top 3 teams were the Dead Kennedy’s, Team Big Time, and Bob Dole: The Ugly Duckling. The only team to answer the final challenge question correctly was Dead Kennedy’s, so they were tonight’s big winner, with Bob Dole: The Ugly Duckling coming in second. A very nice effort by Chappaquiddick Diving Team, with our best showing yet for a one-person team, almost making it to the final challenge round.
