It randomly came up during the course of the quiz tonight in Hood River. I don’t know why, but I’m compelled to agree.
Tonight three teams went home happy amidst 57 people in Hood River. Team Jeff Goldbloom took home top honors (and more importantly, top cash) with their wagering strategy – “Bet zero and hope it’s hard!”. It was indeed hard, but not I know that some French chick came up with the idea of calling these things “Fairy Tales”.
In second cash spot came Mammal Explosion. They got their name from last week when they guessed at a question where the answer was “Cambrian Explosion”. She knew it was an explosion, just not sure what the hell it was called. Anyway, it gave their team naming inspiration this week, so it served its purpose!
In third came the British Bulldogs: the bar team from the Horse & Hound has been paying to play for awhile now and they finish in the money tonight. Tana brought in an 800-page book of fairy tales, so I guess the cash is some small consolation for lugging around a huge, tome-like book of fables to the pub.
Another beautiful evening wrapped up in Hood River. I really hope that Summer this year lasts until 2011. Somehow. It’s just so PLEASANT to drive in this amazing weather, have the quiz in this amazing weather, and then drive home at 70 miles per hour with all my windows down singing that song from Labyrinth at the top of my lungs. Yeah, you know the one. Oh man, that takes me back to Summers of my youth. Nostalgia creeping in! I wonder if the baby in that movie grew up.
*Googles for 2 minutes*
Fuck. A. Duck. I found him. His name was Toby in real life. Toby Froud.

“Yeah, I was the baby in that movie Labyrinth”
“Oh yeah, how’s that working out for ya?”
“Dick.”
