As Seattle’s best, brightest, most amazing people found the shelter from the hottest day ever recorded in the history of the surface of the sun Seattle, the heat brought out some smack talk at Big Time Brewing Co.’s Wednesday night quiz. We heated thing ups with a great Bingo round that saw 3 teams tied and the leaders just barely ahead. The storied rulers of the Big Time Pub Quiz, Team Highspeed, were in an unfamiliar position after the Bingo round, not in first place. Could it be because one of their six left to join Werewolf Bar Mitzvah? Could this coming-of-age creature of the night hold this lead and finally defeat Team Highspeed? And what would the Heat Strokes, Team Big Time, and the Pecan Sandies have to say in this battle? And why am I asked all these questions, I already know the answer.
The Pecan Sandies and Heat Strokes each excelled in the “A to Z” Round 2. I guess I need to check my microphone, because for some reason the requests for me to repeat the “P” question were well above average. With the Pecan Sandies acing one handout and Werewolf Bar Mitzvah acing the other, we were set up for a very tight finish. And don’t leave out Team Highspeed, they were right in the mix. Highspeed boldly wagered everything they had, but were stymied by the final question. Our two remaining teams smelled blood with the champs in 3rd, and even engaged in a little aforementioned smack talking. So who went down as the giant-killers? Would the perennial bridesmaid’s at Pecan Sandies finally get their win? Well, the answer is no to put it bluntly. Due to some strategic wagering and a strong showing all night, the Werewolf Bar Mitzvah won tonight’s quiz, congratulations!
Broken record time – in our closest quiz yet, those bonus points would have made a big difference for any of our teams tonight. While I vote for liqeur-filled candy to be the bonus item every week, I doubt I will get my wish so get on the email list to find out what it is next week.
I wish everyone a great rest of your week and hope to see you all and some new friends next week. Cheers! Kurt
