I tried to do my best Simon Cowell, but the people of Belmont wanted my Weird Al Yankovich instead. Not satisfied with your own signing — beautiful, sometimes sultry, sometimes downright scary singing — you made me take the stage. And boy aren’t you sorry now… if there’s ever a Johnny Cash-themed quiz though, watchout!

Karaoke and cabaret aside, it was a magical night for the Belmont brand of Quizzery. We saw a packed house of new teams and old friends competing for a sizeable pot. Tonight’s winners, the Silver Snakes, really earned it. They shook their money-makers in the bingo round and rocked the handouts to be the point leader heading into the Challenge Round, then nailed the answer to the final question like they the pack of voracious nintendo playin nerds that they are. Well done.

Get Your Ass to Mars rolled into a respectable second and belted out some quality tunes, as did the No Mouth Monkeys who walked out flush in green in third place. Can You Smell the Stank on my Hangdown finally fulfilled their promising potential with a fourth-place finish and Mama Say, Mama Saw Mamakusa walked out of their first Pub Quiz in fifth (and were VERY entertaining on the mic!).

Regrets, of course, I have a few… I should’ve sung we are the world, and then just slipped away when you were all swaying about in harmony. Ah well, there’s always next week — and I’m sure I’ll see you all there again!
