As the pictures show it was an awesome night down at the Ol’ Thirsty Lion last evening as we had 88 folks come on out for our MJ tribute. It was so exciting that I had to grab my crotch and Beat It!!! I mean play with my crotch and Beat it!! Wait… no that’s not right either… I mean play ‘Beat It’… and some crotch thing… we’ll you get the jizz… I mean Gist… GIST!!

All seriousness aside, we had a great quiz last night as things got really interesting in our Widmer Cup Leader Board. We are only one week away from crowning our next Widmer Leader Board Champion and let me tell you things are almost to a boiling point. There was treachery afoot as well, and all sorts of unfounded accusations were flying around. I won’t mention any names… but you know who you are and you got to meet my middle finger too. LOL!!

First of all I have to say… I’M a little disappointed in Barry TOO!!! (Referencing a team name from last night: ‘T/X is very dissapointed in Barry’) I know that you can play the quiz with whatever 6 people you can muster… and with the prizes, accolades and fame that come with winning the ‘Fist of Knowledge’, teams want to, and should, field the best team they can.

So technically, I can’t say anything about the stacked ‘Gobstoppers’ team that showed up last night which included some heavy hitters from some other Pub Quiz veteran teams. I won’t name any names, *ahem* Barry, Chelan *ahem*. Once again nothing illegal per se… but there was just a a wee bit feeling of wrongness about it… kinda like having to say “Moist Unicorns” all night. LOL!

As the evening wore on, it looked like the team of ringers, playing under the moniker ‘ Harold and Maude Go to White Castle’ was going to storm out of the Lion last night with a win AND their hands on ‘The Fist of Knowledge’ again. They only missed one question on the bingo AND won the bingo bonus, so they were in the lead all the way up to the final round.

Call it Pub Quiz Karma if you like… but the good Pub Quiz bible does state in the book of Quizziticus Chapter 4, Verse 20 : “Thou team shall reap what thou team sews”. And at the end of the final round there was a bunch of reaping going on as ‘The Sirens of Titan’ swept in (Being the only team to get the answer correct) and took home the Lion’s share of the Lion’s pot. ‘No Clue’ with a cunning wagering strategy stole away second. And we had a tie for third. Which teams tied for third you ask? Only the aforementioned ‘Gobstoppers” and ‘The Rural Jurors’… the two teams on top of our Widmer Leader Board!

That means that each team will only receive one point on the leader board this week… which also means going into the last week of the tournament there will only be two points separating them!! It’s going to be reeeeaaallly interesting next week when everything is on the line!!

It’s on like Donkey Kong next week!!! Whoo-Hoo!!!
