I’ll point out now that I’ve known many crochet enthusiasts, and none of them ever responded to “hooker.” I’d also like to mention that, as adults, we have more important things to worry about than spelling. Things like taxes and freeform jazz. Children are forced to learn to spell in the hope that, when they reach adolescence, that knowledge won’t be replaced with cheat codes for video games.
Although there were many promising words this evening that should, perhaps, be studied. For instance, the word “xeriscape,” which pubquizzers from the lush state of Oregon have never heard of, much less complimented their neighbors on. I’m not sure if eighteen years of miserable heat is a sufficient exchange for knowing the answer to a pub quiz question. Um – I knew what a “stiff” was too… still doesn’t make up for it. Damn.
I didn’t get to see many typos tonight, which made me sad. There was a subject-verb agreement issue from the Oregonian and a misspelling in the NY times and that was all. Thanks to the two who brought those in for me!
Congratulations to Put a Spell on You, a new team, for their big win and to Robert Miles is Generic Trance for taking Second.
Cheers,
Leandra
