Really… I was just sitting here thinking about last night and what to put into the ol’ blog… I was doing the usual pun searching for our spelling theme and title, when I flashed to the question last night about who’s in the Guinness book of world records for the most prolific television producer… and as obvious as it is now… I skipped right past it and didn’t get the joke last night… damn… I must be slipping! O well my mama never said I was smart…

We had a great turnout on a beautiful night down at the old Thirsty Lion as we had our mini Spelling Bee/Quiz. Personally, I’m a horrible speller (Is that even a word?) Yes, I screw things up so badly that spellcheck can’t even figure out what I’m saying… it just comes back with ???. Apparently, our Quizzers are not prone to that problem as most teams did spectacularly on the spelling bits.

Once again the guys at the Thirsty Lion came through with some great stuff to give away… as always we had the ‘Thirsty Lion Trivia Challenge’ which the ‘Rural Jurors’ won and got some great Blue Moon glasses and some boughten Guiness to fill them! They even were nice enough to share! Thanks Guys!

But we had more to give away… our new ‘Walk of Shame’ Prize was in full effect as the randomly selected 3rd from the bottom team won a pair of great tickets to see a Beavers Game!! See, it’s not just the top of the scoring bracket that goes away with shit from the Lion!!

And just to prove my point… in honor of the Thirsty Lion’s 3rd year anniversary celebration which is happening all this weekend down at the Lion, the guys gave away coupons to everyone in attendance for 50% off a purchase at the Adidas store!! Hell yea!! Now that is what I’m talking about!! You come to play the quiz and you go home with some great shit!!

But wait there’s more!!! That’s right, the first two month round of the Widmer Leader Board competition came to a close last night… which means we’ll be giving away the our great golf bag from Widmer Bros. Brewing next week as we crown the first Widmer Bros Thirsty Lion Pub Quiz Champion, as well as showing everyone the perks which go along with being a Widmer Leader Board Champion… wait till you see, it’s going to be awesome!!!

This of course also means that next week the scores on the leader board are wiped clean and everyone starts back at 0!! So a note to all you priemere teams out there in Pub Quiz land… If you think you can step up to the plate and prove yourself week in and week out to be a champion… then be at the Lion next week… so not only can you see the first championship team crowned… but also see the perks and prizes that go along with winning!!! Believe me you will want to be in their shoes!!!

So enough about the giveaways… what about the cash??? We did have a $165 dollar pot on the line last night which meant that 5 teams got into the final round. The ‘Rural Jurors’ made it into the final round but had to settle for winning the Thirsty Lion Trivia Challenge. ‘Scooby’s Red Rocket’ had a strong night but also misspelled ‘Guerdon’ and fell out of the cash. ‘We Heart Brains’ fell in love with some Cash last night as they took third. ‘I’m With Stupid’ got the final spelling right and leapt into second. But the night belonged to ‘The Everlasting Gobstoppers’ who like many nights before in the past two months took home the Lion’s share of the Lion’s pot!! Hmm… if only there was a way to show how many nights they have won… Hmmm like a leader board or something… LOL!!!
