We had some old-fashioned, all-American, pub quiz fun last night at the Parkway Station, our old stomping grounds in Hillsboro. What a warm welcome from all y’all and Virginian the new owner! There were streamers and hats and tablecloths and everything. You shouldn’t have, you really shouldn’t have…
The game was tight for the top teams and the bottom teams all night. Great efforts by the Parkway pub team and The All-Americans (must give some props to the bottom teams once in a while!!).
Not to toot my own silly, horn, but I chuckled at my own quiz joke last night. “What state is directly south of South Dakota? You’ve got a one in 49 chance of getting it right….” Hee-hee. Okay enough of my cheezy self-adulation.
On to the real cool kids of the night. Up until the final challenge it looked like No Taxation Without Representation was going to take it, what, with all their flag bonus and bingo bonus and all. But, alas, all the final challenge teams submitted the guess of “Philadelphia” for the US Capital during 1788-1800. Good guess, but a wrong guess. New York City, is where it was at at the end of the 18th century!
Congrats to the HILLSBURRITOS!!!! You are champion, pub quizzing Americans!!
Thanks to all the teams. We’ll see you next week!
Oh, and in case you doubted it, here’s the Chanel logo as referenced in last night’s Bingo round…
