Whenever I watch Cocktail, I wonder to myself, “What if Brian Flannigan never dropped out of Junior College?” What if he became a successful businessman and was able to create a successful market where malls had bars. Well, for one, that would be awesome, but more importantly it would just prove the power of the American Dream and that the value of education is worthless as compared to the power of a dream and a Junior College business class. Let us just call Flannigan’s dream what it is- Brilliant and ahead of its time.
That is the type of ingenuity that comes from minds being active in bars, while having a few dozen drinks. Our contestants are Brian Flannigan, I am Coughlin providing wisdom, and the Brit is Jamaica. Tonight we had the dreamers, the schemers, and more drinks than you can shake a stick at. All of which leads us to Trivia Magic and Brit Belt Dreams.
The Village Idiots literally brought in an entire village to the game tonight and started off the madness with drinks, drinks, drinks. And they answered a lot of questions correctly. That is a nice blended scotch of goodness right there. Yet, they were unable to pull away from our mixed spirits of contestants that took mixology 101 knowledge to a new level. One of those teams was Here for the Beer, a great collection of brains and booze that gives just the right amount of confidence without spotting out the real important information.
The amazing thing about Here for the Beer is that they not only came late to the party, but they actually knew today was Cousin’s Day. Well, lateness aside, they took aim at one thing- The Brit Belt. Let me tell you that free prizes, camaraderie, and drinks are all fine and good, but when you lay eyes on the Brit Belt there is feeling that is part olympic athlete gold medal pride and Smeagol “My Precious” type of obsession.
It was that feeling that made the eyes of Here for the Beer light up and bet it all on the final jeopardy style question to be this weeks Pub Quiz Winner. Congratulations to the new champions.
