Pub Quiz USA

Must go faster!

Back from my vaca in Florida (aka disneyworld, universal, and ignoring all the land that is around those things), escaping both zombies and storms to return to green and pretty and mild-weathered Oregon. Yes, it’s good to be back.

Had a good crowd and a great theme for last night’s pub quiz, and we won’t be going extinct anytime soon. Shared a love of chairs and giant tyrant lizards over round one with Sandbar Devs taking the bingo bonus, On this Day round 2 saw the standings get shaken, and everyone basically got a pass with rhymes and trying to name creatures that haven’t lived for hundreds of millions of years (color copies even). Check out my dinosaur bone, Sandbar Devs, and My precious came through to the final round and named children’s nursery rhyme character/paleontologist Jack Horner, who discovered and named Maiasaura, providing the first clear evidence that some dinosaurs cared for their young.

Er, actually there was a bit of a kerfuffle there. My Precious brought up a scrap that said Jack Horner among other names and I gave it to them, winning them the game as they had wagered the sum total of their points thus far. However, I have since been told that the answer they intended to present to me was Jack Sprat, being incorrect, and putting them in third with 0 points. So, My Precious is conceding the win and conceding the prize money to Sandbar Developers next time we meet. Thanks for My Precious’s honesty and sorry for my mixup, when you bring up an answer make sure there’s clearly just one, write it on another piece of scrap if you have to. This also applies to your handouts and general rounds as well everyone.

So, belated congrats and apologies to Sandbar Developers!

Here are the standings:

Witless-1
Clever Girl-1
Check out my dinosaur bone-2
Token-2
Pros not Hos-3
George-2
Uncomfortably numb-4
Solar Treasure-4
My Precious-6
Sandbar Developers-9

No game next week so everyone can celebrate our independence by risking our fingers with explosives and eating bbq
See you on the 11th of July!
