So I just had a crippling Internet experience. You know how I like to pull together some funny pictures for my post? Well, here’s my secret. I google: “Funny” and then some other words. Like Elizabeth Berkeley. Like Showgirls Movie. Like Burlesque Movie. Nothing! Apparently these things are all so crappy, the Internets doesn’t even bother to mock them!
Well, it was no laughing matter at the Belmont last night, either. We had a great crowd, as usual, and an incredibly fun night. I dare say I’ll miss you on my quizbattical. We had five teams in the Challenge Round, vying for that sweet, little pot of cash. And rocketing from the middle of the pack with some solid handout work, Cattle Prodigy didn’t just sneak into the Challenge Round, they took the whole night! These guys are longtime quizzers, but I don’t’ know that I’ve ever seen them at the Belmont before. So look out for them — they may be coming back!
Speaking of coming back, I’ll be back! I’ll be back next week, and then the week after, wrapping up the Belmont Steak season. After that, Jeremy will take over for a little while, so I can get my day job on.

Each season, on the Solstices and the Equinoxes, Quizmaster JPP’s venues (Shanahan’s Pub and Grill in Vancouver, The Space Room Lounge on Hawthorne, and at The Belmont Inn on Belmont) break into their own in-house competitions, augmenting the weekly Pub Quiz fare with quarterly standings competitions to prove who is the best of the bunch.
The spoils are a mix of gift certificates, treats, and an entire season of tributes paid to you by your peers. The rules are quite simple, and can be found here.
