Sadly, this week’s Amercian-themed… errr, SPELLING-themed quiz has come to end. Nothing lasts forever — except for truthiness! Truthiness endures all else.
Last night, we had a cozy summer-esque quiz at the Belmont, with the creme de la creme of quizzers piling for Portland’s best pub quiz. Only three teams in the Challenge Round this time, and of course the last question was a spelling one. Basically, if you wanted to win, you needed to know how to spell triskaidekaphobia (totally nailed it right there — I didn’t spell check, I swear!) or wager wisely. And that’s just what C Average did (wager, not spell) scoring themselves a first place finish!

Each season, on the Solstices and the Equinoxes, Quizmaster JPP’s venues (Shanahan’s Pub and Grill in Vancouver, The Space Room Lounge on Hawthorne, and at The Belmont Inn on Belmont) break into their own in-house competitions, augmenting the weekly Pub Quiz fare with quarterly standings competitions to prove who is the best of the bunch.
The spoils are a mix of gift certificates, treats, and an entire season of tributes paid to you by your peers. The rules are quite simple, and can be found here.
